The weight of gold

The thought

Cutting the jacket left offcuts. To throw them out would undo the whole argument — you do not discard inherited cloth, you only change its work. So the scraps became a wall. What hangs there and what is worn on the back are the same length of George, divided: one used up slowly, one that will not be used up at all, and nothing left over between them.

The making

The composition against the wall it was made for

Made from what the jacket could not use. Nothing of the cloth was thrown away.
